How to find original owner records?

Hope I'm posting in the right area. I have my tank sticker for my 69, indicates Zone 28 Dealer 207, and I found from this site here this to be Graham Chevrolet in Mansfield, Ohio. Dealer is still in business so I called hoping by chance they may have old records, but no good.

So, If I know it was from that area, Ohio, maybe the original purchaser was from Mansfield, is there any way to trace the records in Ohio, maybe registration records, etc. I'm so close, I just wonder if there is a way to find more information beyond my tank sticker.

    Thanks, Doug

    Doug,

Hopefully, some of the OH NCRS members will chime in, but I would not hold out much hope the DMV will be of much help. I would post informaiton in the DRIVELINE and maybe on one of the "other" Vette websites asking if anyone knows anything about your car. You never know. What owner of the car are you? Anyone prior to you remember anything, if there are owners between you and the original owner? Just thinking out loud here..........................

Re: How to find original owner records?

      Hi all,

Wondering if anyone knows of the original owner or remembers this car that I now have. It's a 69 L68 convertible, LeMans Blue with Bright Blue interior, 4 speed. You can see details below where I listed from the tank sticker which I have. The car was built Jan. 25, 1969, delivered to Graham Chevrolet in Mansfield, Ohio. If I am right, LeMans Blue with Bright Blue interior, L68 convertible, there were not too many produced in that excat combination, meaning the color combination.

I bought it about 6 months ago from I think the third owner from Thornton, Pa., he bought it from a guy from Lewes, Delaware which we think was the second owner. I have parts receipts from the guy in Delaware going back to the late 90's and I think from conversations he had the car during the 80's. The car has what we think is the original mileage, around 72,000.

      Thanks, Doug

If you have no luck here, you might try getting a professional car detective. I recommend Bill Gould at AutoAncestry.com, he has done several for me and is an NCRS member so knows Corvettes and has many contacts. Good luck.

I would run a little classified ad in the car section of the Mansfield newspaper. Post for information wanted on your car. Might spark a memory or two from someone !!!!

I know this is a nine year old post, but...I just purchased a 1970 convertible, L48, 4 speed, factory A/C which was sold new at Graham Chevrolet in Mansfield, Ohio, March, 1970. I am fortunate in that this car has to be one of the best documented C3's I have run across. I have all the pre-delivery paperwork, sales invoice, etc., from Graham Chevrolet. If Mr. Craner (is still on here???) and would like to see what the dealership paperwork looks like, I will be glad to send you a few pictures.

                Steven,
Welcome to NCRS and the TDB. I notice this is your first post. If you click on Mr. Craner's name in his post above, it will open a box where you can send him a PM or an email. Probably the best way to attempt to contact him. After nine years, he may not even participate on the TDB anymore. Again, welcome and pictures are always welcome of a new members ride...start a new thread.

                    Bob,
has anyone replaced him as the go-to for this?

thanks. I was thinking that that was what you'd say.
