University Chevrolet has been out of business since the mid to late 70's they were located on University Ave. in the Bronx not far from Yankee Stadium. They were one of several large Chevrolet dealers in the Bronx all of which are now gone. My car came from Tremont Chevrolet in the Bronx also now gone.

Did University Chevrolet use a drilled metal dealer id tag? My car has a 4.25 in spacing near the left tail lights. Perhaps they dx it over to Baldwin then to Motion for a performance upgrade....

My recollection is that University Chevrolet did use the metal dealer id tag. I distinctly remember seeing one on my uncle's Impala when i was a kid...living here in the Bronx my whole life.
The address was 1221 Jerome Avenue at 167th St, google maps can zoom you to street level to see what it looks like now.
All dealers are not long gone. LaSorsa Chevrolet is located on Gun Hill Road and Webster Avenue..

There was two addresses for University Chevrolet. Jerome Ave. Bronx, N.Y. 10452. Also 2541 E. Tremont Ave. Bronx, N.Y. 10461. The last phone number that is still active is 718-823-6000. There is now a Honda dealer at the last address. David Kelly

I can't help you with University Chevrolet but seeing references to Jerome and Tremont Avenues I could not resist responding. I ordered my 67 (that I still own) in March 67 at S. M. Rose Chevrolet, 573 E. Fordham Rd. Bronx, N.Y. 10459.

Like University, Rose had that bad habit of drilling hoes to attached a metal plate with the dealer name. Knowing this at the time I had it written on the Sales contract in bold letter "NO EMBLEM".
