Hello - just joined the NCRS and I have a '68 L36 convertible. On the tank sticker it shows zone 11 dealer 023. I have been trying for years to sort this out with no luck. I believe zone 11 is Illinois (???). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

NCRS Zone and Dealer data base shows it as Baker Chevrolet 650 E 5th Ave Gary Indiana

Thanks Gary, was it common practice to put a "zero" in front of the number on the tank sticker in regards to the dealer number (as in my case 023)??? I noticed in the data base that no other examples had a zero in front of the numbers. They were, for example, dealer 55 and not 055. Thanks again for your input. BK

Blair, Yes they did put a 0 in front of the 2 digit numbers

Recently received my shipping data report for my '68. All is good - dealership found. Best $40.00 I ever spent. Just wondering why the address of the dealership was not printed on the report. It is listed in the NCRS dealer code database. Thanks.

Blair, I believe the data comes from two different sources. The shipping data report is a lift from GM documents that I believe are on microfiche. The NCRS dealer code database is generated by us. I put the data in the NCRS dealer code database for the dealership where my 63 was first delivered.

Thanks, gentlemen, Zone 11 Dealer 23 Baker Chevrolet Inc. 650 E 5th Ave, Gary Indiana. I googled the address - just an empty lot now with a black fence surrounding the property. Building long gone. I am searching online thru old Indiana newspapers to find old newspaper ads for Baker Chevrolet in Gary, IN. I also was on a Gary, Indiana website and posted the question if anyone remembered this dealership. I had 2 elderly gentlemen reply that they did remember Baker Chev Inc on 5th Ave back in the day. I would sure like to see any old picture of the dealership and find out when it was in business. I believe it was from the '60s to the '70s(???) If any suggestions or info - please reply. Just had a gentleman from Arizona contact me in regards to Baker Chevrolet in Gary, Indiana. He was the body shop manager at Baker Chev in the late '60s' and early '70s'... Does anyone here have a Vette that was purchased at Baker Chev Inc (Gary, IN) Zone: 11 Dealer: 023???

Just made contact with the Public Library in Gary, IN. The librarian there found some old telephone directories that had Baker Chevrolet Inc. ads in them. She was gracious enough to photocopy the phone book ads and will send them to me. She also indicated to me that in the 1970 directory, Baker Chev Inc. changed to "C" Thomas Chevrolet at the same address on 5TH Ave, Gary, Indiana. New owners (???). Maybe this info will help out other members here whose cars were purchased there.

I just purchased a 1967 vette convt. The info from NCRS came back as purchased from Baker Chev Gary In
I would sure appreciate you sending me copies of any photos and info you may have been able to acquire. I was about to start the same process you went through for information. Thanks for what you have provided and the time you have spent in research.
