Would anyone have any information regarding Livermore Chevrolet in Albany NY? I found an older post by Dave Brown looking for information on this dealership. Unfortunatly at that time there was nothing to share. I recently received my Shipping Data Report and my 65 Convertable was delivered there.
Thanks
Mike R.
I lived in the Albany suburbs as a kid when Livermore was in operation. I should know the answer to this question cold, but embarassingly, I can't make that claim. To the best of my recollection, Livermore was bought out/became DeNooyer Chevrolet.
I don't believe Livermore's earlier location was ever used by DeNooyer (although it may have been) - DeNooyer built a new dealership on Wolf Road in the town of Colonie (Albany Suburb) in the late 1960's.
I can tell you for a fact, as you search through Albany Chevrolet dealers, that Livermore had nothing to do with either Marsh Hallman Chevrolet, or DePaula Chevrolet. Hallman was in operation (and competition with Livermore) through the 1960's. Hallman later became DePaula (I don't recall when that happened).
By the way - Google Cal Zarch. He was a DeNooyer salesman, and owned a '61 Corvette. He's probably in his late '60's (or more) by now. I see a Manta listing for a repair shop in Schenectady that may be his.
Thanks for checking back. No luck yet with Cal but I did find an article on how Jin Denooyer came east from the Midwest to buy "Dick Smith Livermore Chevrolet". I also spoke with DeNooyer directly and althought they were very nice they couldn't offer much. Not sure how or if I can attach the article? I see I can attach a link but I'll need to find it. Let me know if you have any interest in reading it. (Times Union article)
Talk to you later
