    Hi Chuck:

I assume you have no paperwork with the car. It is just outside the era of cars that NCRS has shipping records on. I believe the 76 still had a build sheet attached to the gas tank. In addition to factory installed options, it should show where the car was shipped to. Check to see if there is one on top of the tank. Contact the person you bought it from and see if they can direct you to the previous owner and so on. Sometimes it works out especially if someone owned the car for a long time. If you have any luck contacting previous owners, be sure to ask if they might have some paperwork/photos on the car. Perhaps others can provide additional info.

Going to move your request over to the Dealership Information Search forum, but to find your original selling dealership, go up into the tool bar below the 53 vette logo at top of this page, hit the member services tab for the drop down and then the Historic Documents Services tab. Then hit the Shipping Data Report to see how to send in your request along with $40 to learn where your car was first shipped. Good luck

edit: whoops, my mistake, Bob H is correct, apparently the Shipping data service only extends to 1975. Sorry about that. By the way, welcome to the club and thanks for joining the discussion in the NCRS discussion forums.

I purchased a 1976 new, and discovered a copy of the build sheet folded up and stuffed in the bracket where the camber adjustment rods are attached at the rear axle. It was oily, but eventually it dried out ans was readible.
