I recently adopted a 1971 LS5 Vette VIN 194371S103171 and I am in the process of rebuilding it. I am hoping to find the History of this car if possible. I know the person I purchased the car from but they only had it for a short time, after a couple of questions from this past owner I was getting very little useful information. From the condition of the Vette I really just felt like helping this car out as it looks to have been rather neglected. It did sit in a museum in Sacramento, CA for a year or so and seems to not have been maintained very well. This does not seem to be a California car as I found some items that indecated the car was from the Southern regions of the USA. I have not pulled the gas tank yet so have not looked at the build sheet yet. This is my first post and my first time on the board, I just signed up as well. So my questions well be coming soon as I get into the Vette more. Thanks for any help I can get. Frankpointed@earthlink.net

Frank, Welcome to NCRS. I think you will be happy that you joined. The information that is available from our books, members and tech board is second to none. In addition most likely there is a chapter near you that is a great source of help and knowledge.
Not sure if you are aware but you can order a document through NCRS that will provide GM info such as the dealer zone, code and the name of the dealer and location where the car was delivered new. Many members have found this helpful in the search process.- Top

Thanks Michael, I just copied the photos you posted and yes it looks good as it was repainted a few years ago and yes this is the add that got me to look at the car and purchase it, but like all sales information several things are wrong that are not listed on the add. First is that the brakes did not work at all. Also, anyone can slap on a paint job and redo the seats but overall most of the car needs work. The motor does run well and that is one reason I crabbed it. I am happy to get these photos as I did not copy them when I purchased the car, had no idea the add was still around. Thanks
