1971 LS-5 vin #194371S112816 Dealer code 239 in zone 2

I am anxious to research my car which i bought privately in CT in 2001. I thought i would receive the dealer name by buying the shipping data report but they say not available. One issue I am most interested to research is my engine, which I was told appears to be a warranty replacement engine but there are dates on engine from March 1971 too. There also appears to be some collision issue as the left front fender had been replaced at one time. My GM official production date was 3/22/1971. the person I bought it from had for 1 yr and did not have info but I spoke to the previous owner's son but did not keep contact info, now which i had as I have questions. Any help is greatly appreciated

Thank you very much. As a matter of fact I was living in West Hartford in 1971 when my car was bought but do not remember seeing it at the time!

Thanks very much Drew, I was wondering if you or anyone out there would have some ideas of what I might do next? Would another dealership in the area have the records for my car from Grody? How would I go about finding owners? I know the car had the LF fender changed and I was told has a warranty replacement engine. I think it is in very good un-restored condition and mostly original. I am most concerned about how the above happened and why. It drives great now that I corrected parts and mistakes in the vacuum system, hoses, belts, cooling, and replaced the springs and other suspension parts. I have owned the car since 2001. I still get a rush each time I drive it! Ed

Sorry for not getting back to you yesterday. It was my wife Joan's birthday.
Grody Chevrolet dealership has closed. I do not think that there are any records available. Most likely the records were thrown out. I doubt that another dealership in the area would have the information.

I would recommend that you contact Bill Gould of Auto Ancestry. He is a member of NCRS.
