Yes, they were in business until just a few years ago. They were located on 1st Street in downtown Livermore and the buildings are still there (although I don't know for how much longer). They were an old-fashioned, small-town dealership that was family operated right to the end. I believe they even survived the widespread dealership closings that followed GM's bankruptcy. I was told that the original owner's daughter basically ran the business and was planning on moving the dealership out to a new, modern location near the I-580 freeway with other dealerships. To that end, I was told she sold the downtown property and was going to use the proceeds to fund the new location. However, there was apparently some sort of "falling out" between her and other family members and, from what I'm told (in NO way verified), she took the money from the property sale and dropped the whole idea of re-locating. Thus ended Groth Brothers Chevrolet.
At one time Groth Brothers took on the Oldsmobile dealership and it became Groth Brothers Chevrolet-Oldsmobile. However, that ceased after GM dropped Oldsmobile.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -
