Hi. I recently bought a 1970 454 convertible. It included the Protecto Plate with Warranty Booklet, as well as the original Tank Sticker, and Scheduled Price Sheet. They all indicate that it is from Zone 12, Dealer 165.
I paid for the NCRS Shipping Data report, and it says that the Original Dealer for Zone 12 Dealer 165 was Crowley Chevrolet of Ontario, NY. My Warranty Book, as well as my Scheduled Price Sheet both show the dealer as Crotty & Ferrando out of Corry, PA.
I spoke to the Original Owner last night by phone, and he confirms that he special ordered this Corvette from Crotty & Ferrando, because he was only 10 minutes away from their dealership. He lived in Clymer, NY at the time, which is just across the PA border, where Crotty is still today, in Corry, PA.
Roy Sinor, as well as a few others, suggested that this may have been a Dealer Trade. Is that possible when someone special orders a car? Also, the Warranty Booklet has Crotty & Ferrando stamped in it as well as the Zone 12 and Dealer Code 165 handwritten on it as well. The Scheduled Price Sheet also has the name Crotty & Ferrando typed on it, with the Zone 12 and Dealer Code 165 typed on as well. The Tank Sticker has Zone 12 and Dealer Code 165 on it also.
My guess, is that someone made an Input Error years ago, since Crotty and Crowley are so close in spelling. I was not 100% sure about my paperwork before, until I spoke directly to the Original Owner last night.
Does anyone here know of either dealer listed above? Does anyone here have any cars documented from NCRS or Paperwork showing either Dealer Zone or Code? Are there any suggestions to get to the bottom of this?
I have checked all of the #s that I could visibly see on this car, and they all match perfectly to the Protecto Plate. I have no reason to believe that the original owner would lie to me about a car he sold after only 3 years of ownership. Please let me know if anyone here has any suggestions as to how I can learn the truth.
I have attached cropped photos of all 3 documents for your review.
Thank you in advance,
Steve
