Walter, The date that our dealer book reflects is about 1965-1967. Some dealer names changed with time. Since your car is a 1969 it is possible that by that time 34-235 was Fletcher Jones Chev. However the data in the Dealer Code Database is entered by volunteers and there is no guarantee of accuracy. If you are able to determine when Fletcher Jones Chevrolet started business or when Johnson Chevrolet went out of business it might help to confirm the name.

Hemet is tiny town in Riverside County of Southern CAL. It did not exceed a population of 10,000 people until 1970. You can tell from that image of the car store next to the Texaco gas station that the store was without a doubt a very low volume dealer. I bet you that the number of corvettes the store ever sold could be counted on one hand. I googled the address and see that the location is now a large Firestone Auto Care /Tires store. And we can see that the Texaco dealer in 1958 was also a Firestone dealer.
If I were you, I would make contact with the present day Firestore store, and ask for the manager. I would tell him about my search for info on the old Chev dealer who was on that site many years ago, and see if anyone has worked there forever that you could speak to. I suspect that Johnson Chev has been out of business and gone from that location for a very long time. But you may just find some long time Hemet resident still working nearby who can tell you all about the place. Good luck
Walter,I am English, I am sorry that I can't help you with your search other than to say that I have a 65 FI corvette sold new by Fletchers Chevrolet in Encino CA . It is not there now but I believe the dealer is now Fletcher Jones and they are Mercedes dealers in the LA area.
The other thing is that my 1969 coupe was produced the same day as your car 12-26-68 VIN 11482 sold new in Endicott NY by Bauer Chevrolet who are still in business.
Walter, Yes you are correct ,don't know where I got that from in my memory bank, but I am 70 so perhaps that is it. Wow,very close to each other then. Car has been in UK since early 1970's.
