Posting for a friend. Former owner of an L71 powered 1967 Corvette convertible is in possession of the original Protect-O-Plate for the car which was given to him at the time of purchase and he would like to pass the plate on to the current owner of the car (see the attached photo) and, share some history about the car as well.
Mr. Donald E. Bates purchased the car new from Rosenthal Chevrolet, Arlington, VA on Jan 7, 1967. He sold the car in September 1970 to a person in in Huey, PA (northeast of Pittsburg). The second owner sold it to a used car dealer in Elwood City, PA (date unknown) who subsequently sold it to an alleged “collector”. The last know information on the car is that it was offered and sold at an RMSothbey auction in San Diego, CA in 2010. RM literature for the car states that it had earned NCRS Top Flight and Bloomington Gold awards.
