    Search help

Sorry to have to ask this - I though I was pretty good at searching forums etc. I am interested in finding threads pertaining to air filter elements for a 1964 small block, L76 (365 HP). I am wondering if very frequent users had opinions on after market filters or replacement filters for the OEM foam filter. Regardless of what I type into the search field I get a lot of posts threads that are not relevant to air filters. Any suggestions on what to enter into the search field. I've tried all kinds of variations of search words - I either get non relevant threads or "no info available". I find it hard to believe the subject of replacement air filters never came up.

    thanks for your assistance

      Re: Search help

Ed, I played around a little and came up with this......

Under Advanced search.... copy/paste the below search string into the box. Using the "Search Entire Posts" box.

( 1964 AND *air* AND filter ) NOT fuel NOT Fuel NOT *Oil* NOT *oil* NOT oilfilter

Note that the search engine can't recognize strings of 3 characters or less, so by adding the wildcard character, the *, before and after the 3 letter word will allow it to be found when there is a space character before or after it. You're basically tricking the engine to find the word " air ". Also negating " oil "....etc so you don't get too much info about oil filters. It may seem cumbersome and complex, but once you get the idea of the Boolean expressions and how they're used it's really powerful. Just takes some practice and experimenting sometimes. The biggest drawback is waiting that 30 seconds between searches that the s/w has in place when experimenting.

I found 16 threads that have some info about your request. I'll leave it up to you to parse through it to hopefully find the info you want.

....there are 2 that look interesting.......

This might be the case. I can't remember reading any.
