    How does one member find another. Newbe question

    hello;

    I met a gentleman at the KC National named James Anderson. (he had a 1970 LS-5 and another car there) I lost his contact info and looking on the site I don't see where I can find another members name and contact info.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks for any help

    Regards

    OK, thanks but that does not help me get contact info. That only searches for a name that has posted on the forum.

    As a paying member does this mean that I cannot find members in the organization?

    Thanks

      The answer to your question is a qualified YES! You see Dan there is this thing called privacy and the fear others will come to steal our Corvettes -- even though one does not have to own a Corvette to belong to NCRS. While not all of us have that fear, the Board of Directors has decided to accommodate all of us in the light of those who do.

      I could email you Jim's contact information, but in the interest of you learning how this board works allow me to explain further.

      Once you find his name on a posting you can left click on that name and you will get, among other things, the option of sending Jim a PM or an email. Knowing Jim I suggest the latter.

      Another option is to click on the COMMUNITY radio button at the top of the page. The second option on that drop-down box is MEMBER LIST. Click on that and you will find an alphabetical list (by given name -- don't ask; it is a computer "feature") of the members who have signed onto this board. Please note this list is far from the entire membership. Search the many JAMESs. He will be near the beginning since his surname begins with an A. Left click on his name and you will get the same contact options as in the above paragraph.

      Edit add: I just followed my own advice and found three James Anderson listings, two from Illinois. Don, you want the middle one - member #40241. The guy you want has all the judging points showing. Jim & I will have a good laugh about this (3 James Anderson's) on Sunday. The Illinois Chapter is starting its Fall Color Tour from his home.

        Hi Don
        moved you to Discussion Board Help first of all.
        then up in tool bar see button Community. Touch that then Members list in drop down.
        All members registered for the website are listed by first names, alphabetically.

          Thanks Terry and Don

          terry. I was going to send you a message next about Jim. He and I exchanged a lot of dialog, mostly me, about his car and the hard top in particular. I did the same search and did not know which person it was.

          Please let him know I wanted to follow up with him on the hard top. Hope you both are doing well. I'm loving my LS-5

              BTW, an even faster "feature" when you get to the Member List, is to click on the "Search Members" button on the right of the page.....

              .....type "James Anderson"

              .....Click "Search"

              .....3 of them show up

                And, there may be more as the list is only those who have signed up for TDB

                  Rich,

                  we've setup every member in the TDB who has a email address registered... currently we have 14,334 active members with email address registered!

                    Rob - my point was that NOT every member has signed in for TDB account

                      Rick,

                      True, but there are 14,335 members out of 15,500 listed in the Members List.

                      That doesn't mean the member's email addresses are kept current.

                        Thanks all;

                        james and I connected via email, thanks to Terry.

                        I am President of a smaller 501c3 and our solution was for the new member to check a box if they wanted their membership information private. Our paid membership has an online membership roster that can be searched for State, Name, etc. It is locked down and can't be copied in any way and does not attache ownership of a vehicle (in our case a classic boat). Our date base also tracks how many times a membership looks in the database and how many records they look at. This way we police people. Food for thought but if you let the member decide then it takes the liability off the organization.

                          Liability still remains with the organization as you are the host. Liability is shared, and legal experts will argue how much. And when you say locked down, that means many things to many different people, especially me as I work computer security.
