I'm wondering why I receive so many emails from NCRS members hacked addresses, leading to phishing sites? It's not uncommon to receive several each month. The latest was moments ago from Mr. Chamberlain. No doubt, he has no idea but I'm reluctant to reply........ Is there way for me to block these hacked emails?

Re: NCRS Members emails addresses being hacked
Hi Bill,
It's been a long while! I see the green car has been sold?
Sorry my friend, I was not referring to you!
There is another Mr. Chamberlein (sp), Lyle another member I had previous email correspondence with.
One member must have serious problem? Doug Jorgenson (sp)? I must have received twenty hacked emails from him alone?
You're fine!- Top

the 69 went May/June 2014
I been working on a very custom 1955 Chevy 2nd design stepside PU truck.
I having LOTS of fun with it. :-)
Plus the Challenger is finally back home. It took almost two years to find all the dated OEM/NOS parts to put it back together after the
crash. But it looks 1000% better now..
I been trying to find a 70 Lt1 car to work on, but no luck so far.
Take care.- Top

Re: NCRS Members emails addresses being hacked
Usually this means YOUR address book has been hacked. Then the virus in your computer sends you emails that come from addresses in your computer. This is one way it happens. There may be others.1966 L79 Convertible. Milano Maroon

Re: NCRS Members emails addresses being hacked
I guess it's possible? But the emails are from and only from other NCRS members. This occurs on and off but several times a year at least.
They also include a cc mailing list of just NCRS members, not my addresses? If you know of a way for me to determine their origin if other than the sender, I would be grateful!
Has anyone else been receiving emails messages like this?
Like Bill above, I'm running Mac here.
Thanks for your reply.- Top

Re: NCRS Members emails addresses being hacked
Nothing like this is coming my way. Doing what I do for NCRS a great many members have my email address. One of my chapter mates got hacked last fall, but I would be surprised if he has your email address Kevin. That is the last one I received any spam from, but I am sure there will be more. It is just a matter of time.Terry- Top

Re: NCRS Members emails addresses being hacked
I'm no expert on this but I've had it happen from an email list of people that was not related to any web site or forum. The cause of this is probably not the NCRS site. Beyond that I confess ignorance.

Re: NCRS Members emails addresses being hacked
Thought I would update this thread.
Ever since I received this email I have not been able to access the NCRS.org site using my home modem/router. I'm submitting this post using my cell off the home wifi. I was instructed to reset the modem which I did, and still the problem remains? I'll admit again I'm not a computer savvy person so this is quite frustrating. If anyone has a suggestion I'm all ears?- Top

Re: NCRS Members emails addresses being hacked
Hi Kevin,
If you remember I had a similar problem about 6 months ago.
I had tried to upload some pictures unsuccessfully and tried several times in rapid succession. The system interpreted this as the action of a 'robot' and 'locked' me out.
I contacted Gary and he was able to explain what had happened and remedy the situation.
Perhaps you should go to the Help Forum and fill out a 'ticket'.
Good Luck!

Kevin,
log into the router and look for the firewall settings.
maybe somehow the NCRS site was included as a blocked site or an exclusion.
who is the router manufacturer?
There is a security icon under System on the iMac
Check to see if under firewall there are any entries preventing NCRS from loading.- Top

Re: NCRS Members emails addresses being hacked
Alan is right Kevin. Your IP address has been locked out by the site server. Submit a help desk Tix and John Waggoner will unlock you.
Gary is a little busy at the moment.
And I can't do it.
I will move your thread here to the help board.
good luck

Re: NCRS Members emails addresses being hacked
Yes, he will eventually see it, but neither he nor Gary check this forum everyday like I do, nor probably every few days. The Help desk Tix is the way to get his attention promptly to solve a problem. And yours is that kind of problem. This forum is for the more simplistic website functionality questions like posting pics, navigating and so on. IT issues require a Help Tix.- Top
