Ncrs automatic billing method needs to stop!!

Guys. You just charged my grilfriends Paypal account for my dues. Since there was no money in there they hit the checking account. Since there was no money in checking the bank just hit me (her) with a $25 fee! We don't use that account on a regular basis.

I have initiated a reversal of the Paypal charge.

Please take me off the automated billing method. Its apparently set for "yes" as the default setting. Don't ask me to do it, I shouldn't have to. I did not request it and I know this has come up before. I already have wasted too much time this morning with this.

This is not the way to treat members, this is a technique scam artists use and its not worthy of this type of organization.

    Ed,

the auto pay is something that got setup inside of PayPal...
you need to delete the re-occuring payment from your paypal account.
NCRS does not initiate the rebill after the year is up - it is auto generated in your paypal account.

I had the same problem last year and figured out how to deal with it.

    -----

Look under account settings and then under "pre approved payments" this is where you will find the NCRS auto push item.
delete it or you will be in the same boat next year.

Which is yet another reason not to use PayPal - I use a check which is accepted for now however fully expect in the near future it will only be PayPal or the high way. Keep the complaints coming so I can stay a member.

Re: Ncrs automatic billing method needs to stop!!

        NCRS quickly resolved it!!
        Thank you.
i am rejoining, just not with that account. I want to switch it to my Paypal acct. instead of my girlfriends acct but on second thought maybe I'll just use another method altogether.

        Hello Bill,
So its a Paypal issue? Then I apologize to NCRS.
i never had this come up before with Paypal. Do you remember what you did to fix it?
        thanks again,
        ed

        Thanks again Bill,

Ed -- after this post of yours (and Bill's reply) decided to check my PayPal account (never did this before). Believe me, it's not easy to find your account; at least 20 key/mouse strokes (on purpose, no doubt). Then more clicks to "inactivate" autopayment per payment destination; ie. no overall inactivate to any and all companies.

Saw that I was set-up for automatic payments to Tiger Direct (electronics), from which I hadn't made a purchase in the last 4 years. I always have a zero balance in PayPal as I haven't started to sell my parts .... (yet).

Thanks for the heads-up; better to be safe than sorry.

Big Brother is watching.....and asking....Does this mean everyone in NCRS has a PayPal account? I hope not, because I have avoided those
b______ for years. If I now have one, someone at NCRS better give me specific instructions on how to make it go away and stay away.

                  Ed,

Last year when you paid with your friend's PayPal account you selected "automatic renewal payment" feature by checking the box yourself for your membership dues.

That means your friend's PayPal account was automatically billed.

NCRS received the reversal request from PayPal Merchant Services, who is the credit card and personal PayPal account processor that NCRS uses. NCRS promptly reversed the $45 dues charge. Your dues will expire on August 31, 2015.

                    Hello Loren
I was blaming NCRS but it was not them, its Paypal. Since I paid with Paypal initially they must have some default position to renew subscriptions through them. Possibly even monthly bills if you choose to do that, such as electric or cable, etc. The only other automated payments I have with them is through eBay. I haven't used Paypal to pay bills before.

I don't think being in NCRS will create a Paypal account. It's probably a one way thing with Paypal if you use them to pay a recurring bill or subscription. Paypal saves the info. I am very upset with Paypal. You have to watch everything.

I will renew with a credit card.

                    Hello Wayne,
without Bill's help I would have been searching paypal for an hour. It would not have been easy to find. But like you said, even after you find the screen there is no easy "delete" icon to rid the auto payment choices. You have to run through a few more screens. These guys want to make sure you keep using them, even if you don't want to....

Re: Ncrs automatic billing method needs to stop!!

                      Thank you Gary,
i received the reversal quite quickly. I appreciate the fast response.
I don't recall checking an automatic payment method. I am fairly sure I didn't which makes me think Paypal has a default that must be unchecked. If I did check it off it was not intentional. However it seems that its not limited to just NCRS so I have to think Paypal is using a default.

I will renew using another method with either my cc or a check before my subscription expires.

My girlfriend called me panicking thinking someone hijacked the account.

                      thanks again,
                      ed

                        Edward,

The box for recurring payment has to be checked. Which told PayPal to set up annual recurring payment using the same account or credit card used for the initial payment. The default is "No Recurring Payment".
