Re: Cookies - main site vs Forum

We use a combination of purchased software such as the Forum, Classifieds, Store along with custom software that Rob built for all of the other pages. The Forum software, the Classifieds software and the Store software all use different ways to log in. Rob has modified each of these purchased software applications to work with our log in system. They are all supposed to work with the website cookies and usually do.

I log into this site daily and the cookies usually work from area to area. Sometimes they will start to forget to log me in across applications and I will make it a point to log out of each page of the site. Next time I return I have to log in manually, but I can go from page to page without logging in again.

When you log out you will see a message that the site is clearing your cookie. When you log back in it will create a new fresh cookie. The trick is that you have to log out of every page you have open. I sometimes have 5 or 6 or more pages open at once.

Re: Cookies - main site vs Forum

FYI, happened again today at the office computer. I went to check out the online Restorer and read it, and had to re-enter all my info to get back into the forum.

Re: Cookies - main site vs Forum

You can retrieve your cookie by clicking on this link: https://www.forums.ncrs.org/register/getCookie.php

Your cookie, if it exists should look something like this:

        [B]Display Cookie Script VBulletin:
        vb_lastvisit : 1490805394 (03-29-2017 12:36:34)
        vb_lastactivity: 0 (12-31-1969 19:00:00)
        vb_userid : 1
vb_password : ******** (Password blanked for obvious reasons)

        Customisation:
        vb_userid: 1 (John Waggoner)
        pvb_visitdate: 1493676488 (05-01-2017 18:08:08)
        [/COLOR]

If your cookie doesn't resemble this you can clear it.

        https://www.forums.ncrs.org/register/ResetCookie.php

No guarantee but it should work. When you clear your cookie you will have to log in the next time. This should then set a new cookie that will work for a while.

Re: Cookies - main site vs Forum

My cookie looked "just" like that.
I cleared them and logged in again. The main site recognized me, but it did not log me in to the Classified ads, etc. Will have to see how it works on other computers.
