    Asterisks in the thread?

I just replied to a post about installing headliners in a '67 coupe. I tried to use the word trim (ming) and it was corrected in the post to t*******. What gives?
Just now I have had to edit this post because it wouldn't let me post the word here either.

There are words that have other meanings, if you get my drift. A lot of them are beyond my wheelhouse. Those words will be asterisked out.

I can understand the limiting of some words which may be derogatory or offensive, but... trim-ming? Really?

Google it and read the definitions returned

I googled and here's what popped up first:

          ˈtrimiNG/
          noun

          • 1.
            small pieces trimmed off something.
            "hedge t*******"
          • 2.
            decoration, especially for clothing.

All of the rest of the sites were similar. I guess that it is one of those things like auto correct that "helps" us so that we don't make a mistake.

A workaround with certain words that the vBulletin software doesn't like is t simply add spaces between the letters.

Examples: the top is the one with the spaces. The string below it is what it replaced the word with. Both lines contained the same words when I wrote this but the editor changes it to asterisks on the 2nd line when I submitted the post.

            t r i m m i n g
            t*******

            t w e a k
            tweak

            t w e a k i n g
            tweaking

            t w e a k e d
            tweaked

(edit looks like the work "tweak" now works. IIRC it didn't like it in the past.)

There are some other oddities in the editor than can even cause 404 Errors. Gary and I pulled out hair out once when I posted a thread and there were some combinations of words in my post that the editor didn't like and it kept crashing my post thinking I was a robotic intruder. It took Gary a while to figure it out but it was some subtle combination of words that the editor took offense to. Quite strange.
