Well, here is some constructive criticism for you.

I have been running internet ads on forums and Ebay for 20 years. Your format is the most long drawn out and redundant one I have ever seen. I have never seen a shopping cart format either, this is not Ebay. This is pay for membership forum that should have a lot of benefits but everything seems to have a price tag on it. Other forum are free and far less complicated. Only 4 pictures or pay for more? Description: (350 character max)? Have to renew after 30 days? Can't edit ad during placement? Why do you have to log in a 2nd time to run an ad? Why did you feel the need to reinvent the wheel? You don’t need to show all of the text from page one on ever page and you only need one page to run an ad. Look at other forums such as Corvetteforum.com and make the appropriated changes and I am sure you will see you classified ads grow.

Really???.... Glad you got that off your chest. Maybe you should try this on your own and stop belly aching when our volunteers step up and take a crack at it. If you had any idea what this took to accomplish, you would retract your criticism.

I have to agree with Darryl. The last place I would look when searching for something is the NCRS online ads and would not consider selling there. Most of the asking prices are hilarious. The next to the last place I'd look is the Driveline parts ads. The last issue had 322 "free ads" and 211 of them were placed by 2 individuals that both have a Corvette business. Maybe they should be charged the business rate for all those ads. Every issue is the same old stuff from the same 2 people. I've talked to other members that feel the same.

No, I wouldn't. Sorry you have such thin skin. It was meant to be helpful.
I have never had a problem speaking my mind especially when I expect others feel the same way but are reluctant to speak up.
As I said there is no reason to reinvent the wheel just copy what other sites do. The don't charge regular member anything to run ads. They DO charge business members to advertise as Supporting Vendors.

I think that reminding/promoting the classified site is good since most people don't take the extra steps to get there. I have used the site and I think it is set up nicely, allows for enough information to get a buyers interest and has a low cost. I don't think it deserves the negative remarks. I also use ebay and the Corvette forum so I have knowledge of those. All you were doing was asking members to take a look.
Negative comments, if members have them, should be sent privately.

First, I don't consider them negative comments but rather facts. I thought about sending it privately but really wanted to see what other members might have to say about it. I really hope others will chime in with their thoughts rather than just sitting back being lurkers.

I believe the observations concerning the Drive Line publication are spot on. Too many commercial ads posted by one or two individuals. Is there anyway there could be a commercial section verses a private individual section, or just a limit on how many ads that can be run by an individual each month?

Not thinned skin at all, just find your "helpful" suggestions lacking any merit. "Posting internet ads for 20 years" does not make you somehow qualified to suggest those who set up the classified section somehow missed the mark. Unless you have some experience writing code or creating ad software you should keep your thoughts to yourself. If you find this too complicated to use, perhaps you aren't as tech savvy as you think.

Until you can find and provide something available to our technical team you find easier to use, I would respectfully request that you keep a cork in it. If doing what ebay or the corvette forum does was as easy as you imagine it is, I'm sure our site would look differently.

I purchased the 64 in my avatar on this site and visit it every few days to see what is there.

Re: Visit the NCRS Online Classifieds

I agree the online ad section is difficult. I had a look when I first joined, and then gave up and went back to eBay and craigslist etc.
It's too bad though, because there are a ton of members with a ton of extra parts, and this site would be a great place to find or sell corvette parts.
I disagree with the argument that it is somehow "harder" to code a simple classified ad than a difficult classified ad.
I also think people should appreciate feedback, and especially honest feedback without getting all bent out of shape.
An environment that does not foster honest communication will not produce positive growth.

The IT team has seen the suggestions. Does anymore need be said? The thread was not posted to solicit suggestions for changes but that's what resulted. The suggestions will be taken under advisement. This thread is moving to the Suggestions and Support forum. Thanks to all for their input. If IT so chooses they can move it back.

If you really want people to comment and make suggestions move it back. Not many people visit this forum.

You seem to be making lotz of friends with all your GREAT suggestions... howz that working out for you? This forum section is specifically set aside "to suggest new desired functionality or changes to the board for the admins to consider". YOU changed the topic/original intent of the post, so I respectfully veto your request to move it. BTW- Do you have the stats to share regarding how many people actually visit this forum? Then again, perhaps most people are EXTREMELY PLEASED with the functionality, and learned at a young age that... oh, never mind... nobody is reading this anyway.
