Why can't the original poster go in and edit/delete their posts that are more than 1 day old?

It has been an issue on forums for someone to post something and get a thread started and then go back and change the original post to make all of the following replies look foolish. It is just standard practice to limit the editing period to avoid this from happening.
I get email from time to time from someone who wishes to add to or fix something in a post and if it doesn't change the theme or affect replies to the post I will make the edits for them.Administrator
