Re: Virtual Judging Schools
I'm all for the V-Schools for the newer members and for information, but.... There is always a but. Where I have a problem is, take a member with 80 judging points, the members picks up the next 20 in V-schools and now the member is a Master Judge with a black cap. I'd rather see that 20 points come from actual hands on judging.

Re: Virtual Judging Schools
Personally speaking, I would attend every V-conference I could, even if no judging points were awarded. I'm not pursuing a Black Hat - nor do I think I would deserve one if I crossed that threshold with lots of V-conference points.
However, the knowledge I have gained so far - which typically cuts across many generations I know almost nothing about (judging-wise) has been valuable - and entertaining I might add! I think these sessions add another dimension of value for what NCRS already brings to its membership.
So, paralleling some rigorous occupational "re-certification" processes I have had to go thru, there are many ways to address "point gathering opportunities" and corresponding point assignments thereto.
For Attendees:- 0.25? judging points per 1-hr. V-conference OR
- 1 judging point per every 4, 1-hr. V-conferences attended
- 0.50? judging points per 1-hr. V-conference OR
- 1 judging point per every 2, 1-hr. V-conferences attended
For Presenters:
To be fair, the presenters/organizers of these V-Conferences should also be rewarded for their efforts.
They deserve higher point assignments than someone who just attends in the comfort of their home.
As anybody who has had to do presentations knows - the work involved assembling the information and collating the presentation in a sensible fashion for sharing with others is quite time consuming, indeed.
I'd think a sensible multiplier (higher point value) of whatever might be determined for an "attendee" level is warranted.thx,

Re: Virtual Judging Schools
Gary and others I plan on doing more schools next fall and winter ( need to take the summer off )
I hope the virtual school that I have done in the past had enough good information that people would want to view new ones even if points are not awarded
I will stop if attendance drops off. Our past schools was getting over 100 members I feel this is worth the effort and time to keep doing them.
Thank you everyone who has attended in the past and hope to have more join in the future Mike Treece- Top

Re: Virtual Judging Schools
Mike,
Whatever topic you choose to present, I’ll watch.
Regarding Harry’s concern, and Mark’s suggested point value per school, I’m sure something can be worked out that satisfies everyone.
Earlier today I contacted the NCRS President and he says every Regional Director is being asked by members about continuing the V-schools. We just need to convince the powers that be that the interest is there in terms of future attendees. So, for anyone reading this thread who enjoyed the V-schools, now is the time to voice your support. So, post here, talk to your Chapter President, contact your Regional Director. Do anything you feel comforting doing to voice your support.

Re: Virtual Judging Schools
Folks,
The V-Schools have been extended through July 3, 2021 (the day before the convention black-out period begins). This was announced in the BOD minutes of March 12th. Given that NCRS is back in business, it is unlikely there will be another extension.
