    FAQ - Help Forum!

Post questions about how functions of the board work that are not covered in the FAQ.

FAQ stands for Frequently Asked Questions. The FAQ is linked from the menu above as well as here. It is the instruction manual for how to best use the forums here.

We can all work to answer them here.

I will monitor this area and try to select things that need to be added to the FAQ from the questions that we get in this Forum.

    Re: Help Forum!

Could someone please provide information on how to use the new archives and what the term wild-card means? I have tried to use the new format with no luck. I am looking for information in reference to 283 and 327 connecting rods. I would also like to know why we need the letter color code (security) to use this service when we have logged in to the NCRS site using our user names and password?

    Thanks

      Re: Help Forum!

Some information about this can be found in the FAQ on page https://www.forums.ncrs.org/faq.php?...faq_wordlength

E.g. search for *427* for all big block related postings or for "327 connecting rods" if you want to be very specific...

          Hi! Gary

The code or letter box is not coming up now. You had to enter the letters and numbers that were displayed in a box. The letters and numbers looked like a color blind test. It may have been something used during the start up mode.

Ray, you only see those color letters when you are not signed in/logged onto the TDB.

Lynn, go to Members List, then select the "Search Member" function on the right hand side and put in the NCRS number. If it's a set of numbers such as 123, the search will return all Members with 123 in their NCRS number. Gary....

Peter - the Post Reply Icon is at the bottom of the entire thread. You should see it.

                        Re: Help Forum!

There is a button for editing a post, but when I edit it seems I create a duplicate post, what am I doing wrong?

Also the edit button says edit/delete, how can I delete a post when I have created a duplicate?
                        Thank you,
                        George

                          Re: Help Forum!

George, FAQ search "edit my posts" returned this information. Gary....

If you have registered, you will be able to edit and delete your posts for 12 hours after you have submitted the post.
To edit or delete your posts, click the button by the post you want to edit. If your post was the first in the thread, then deleting the post may result in the removal of the entire thread.
The reasoning behind this is to prevent someone from creating a post that causes a lot of discussion and then coming back and changing their original post to make someone who legitimately answered it look foolish.
When you post a message it is always a good idea to click on the "Review Post" button first to see exactly what your post is going to look like. Gives you one more chance to proof read it before committing it.
After you have made your modifications, a note may appear, which notifies other users that you have edited your post. Administrators and moderators may also edit your messages but this note may not appear when they do so.

                              John,

You can write it up as a post. Let me know when it is complete and I will make it a sticky post that stays at the top of the page.

If there is more detail than will easily fit in a post let me know and I will ad it to the Convention pages and we can link to if from your post.
