Read Messages

I wonder how we are supposed to mark messages read and if someone adds to the thread afterwards, is it obvious??? Some messages I've read turn from the darker blue to a lighter blue, but not all of them. Am I missing something?

Kent, the software marks them as read automatically after you click on them. Note the folder icon in front of each of the threaded posts...they will be yellow/tan/manila if the message is unread, and is blue for read messages. But, it won't update instantly when you click on posts...I believe you have to go back to the index after reading all the unread messages. Then, when you return the next time, all the last read messages will have blue folder icons.

This feature is particularly useful in threads where you have posts concealed; i.e "More replies below current level". It was annoying for me to discover where in several branches unread posts were located until I realized the folder icon in front of that "More replies below current level" message would only be "manila" where there were hidden unread posts. If all the hidden posts are read, the folder icon in front of that message is blue.
