Re: Ok...I'll ask
What we were hoping for was that the little year icon before each thread is preventing us to break the forum up in devisions (at least for technical requests). These should help you quickly to determine threads of interrest. It prevents missing out on a lot of interresting threads when you don't want to visit those other devisions forums all the time...Tom Russo

Re: Ok...I'll ask
Keep it all as on group!! Use the year icons to help people that are just interested in a particular series of Corvettes. Over at CF they break it up and I think that hurts the cross education / interest.
I guess if you have to break it - make it to groups. Eligible for judging and newer Corvettes. My Project Pictures

Re: Ok...I'll ask
I think busting this forum up into generations would be a step in the wrong direction. We have several members who are knowledable across many generations. Making them "forum hop" to see what questions may be on the table would be an inconvience and would eventually perpetuate a loss of expertise on any given generational forum.
After a bit of experience the vast majority simply hit the "latest posts" link on the top of the forum when they visit to see what's new since they were last here.
Categorizing the forums allows folks to focus both their browsing and searches by those categories.
Click "search" and type in carburetors and right now you'll get every reference. If you own a '72 you only want to read about C3 carbs, so you can opt to only search the "C3" areas, eliminating the "noise" from the other generations. . .
Have a look at the Corvette Action Center or the Corvette Forums for examples of how vBulletin (the software in use here) can be implemented.Erik S. Klein
