    New Searching Feature

I have found a partial solution to the problems expressed around searching for words with less than four letters. There is an option that let me allow the searching for certain words that are under 4 letters. It even goes to the extent of indexing those words so when they are searched for they will be found quickly and correctly.

I have already entered a string of words that I could think of on the fly. If you have any to add to this list reply to this message and I will start building the list to suit our needs here at the Technical Discussion Board.

You might want to add the engine options as well: LT1 L36 L88... etc. etc.

And of course.............AIM, DWO, BWO, TWO, NPC, BOM, etc..

Or would it be possible to copy and insert (attach, or whatever) the GM Abbreviation, Acronyms listing I sent you a few years ago?

        Art,

The entire GM Acronyms list would take a bit of doing to include. It is a good place for me to look for items that should be included though. Thanks for jogging my brain. Here is what I have so far.

GM for General Motors. I tried to send just GM and it said my message was too short.

John and I have switched the search function from fulltext to binary. This means you can now seach with the AND keyword to search for combinations of keywords...

              E.g.: big AND block

              greetings,
              Rob.

                Re: New Searching Feature

Hey, apparently with the addition of binary searching now suddenly this forum searches more like the Corvette Forum and Corvette Action Center!!! One easy shortcut is to put a "+" sign in front of words you WANT to be in the results, and a "-" sign in front of words you do NOT want. For example "+tach -bounce" in the advanced search field (without the quotes) will yield all threads with "tach" in them WITHOUT the word "bounce" in them. You can string several of them together. You can also use an * to cover longer words, such as tach* to include tachometer in the result.

                    John,

Did I miss the boat to add more three letter words? How about 425 and L72?

                    Thanks,
                    Joe
