I find Firefox to be a much more pleasant user experience as it seems to be faster, lets you open several web pages in a single browser (separated by tabs), and has better security.

When I used IE, I had to run Ad Aware or similar spyware software several times a month, and each time it would find several pieces of malicious software. With Firefox, I run it a couple times a year and it usually only finds my cookies (most of which I want).
As someone in the software industry, I can tell you that Using Firefox is also much, much, much safer. IE is full of security bugs that makes it inherently unsafe for financial transactions over the Internet. That's why there are security updates released almost everyday for IE. Give Firefox a try, I think you'll like it. What do have to loose? - it's free.

I find Fireflox slower on both of my machines at home as well as on my office computer, and pictures appear "pixellated." I rarely use it since I like speed and nice appearing pictures.

        Hi Patrick,

I agree on speed but I don't have the pixellated pictures problem using FireFox (Which I use almost exclusively)..

"Pixelated" screen has nothing to do with browser.
"SeaMonkey" is a much faster and more streamlined browser than Firefox.
"SeaMonkey" is a suite, containing both a browser and email.
I had Firefox/TBird installed, but removed it when I heard about SeaMonkey.
SeaMonkey is a product of Mozilla......the original developers of NetScape. NetScape was the best browser out there, bar none. Now it is part of AOL, and has Explorer GUI. Sucks.
You can "skin" SeaMonkey to look like Explorer or old Netscape.

I can look at the same web page in IE or in Firefox, and any pictures ALWAYS appear as tiny pixels (very grainy) compared to IE. I can't find any setting in Firefox that would make pictures appear better, nor have it run faster.

Firefox will not run fast. I'm not a "geek", but hear a lot of the "geeks" say that FF has a lot of "stuff" (overhead?), so it is not as fast as some other browsers. AFA screen resolution, I can only reason that you are missing a certain plugin, like Active X, Shockwave, JavaScript, etc, etc. Go to the "plugin" page(s) and check it out.

Why not post your concern on one of the following websites:

              http://forums.mozillazine.org/ **************

MOZILLA wrote the code for T-Bird, Firefox and SeaMonkey. Go to MozillaZine FIRST.
              Zey VILL helfen sie!

I strongly suggest that you use SeaMonkey. What is your email application. If it's Outlook, get rid of it. You can migrate all of your mail, preferences, and bookmarks to SM, easily.

SeaMonkey has low "overhead" and is very fast. Has all the capability (stuff) (scalability?) of TBird............and MORE!!

Of you wanna keep your snail browser, then go to MozillaZine, and the'll fix it for you.

              Just one more thing:

DO NOT, repeat DO NOT open both SeaMonkey and TBird TOGETHER if you decide to have both installed concurrently.
All hellfire and brimstone will rain down upon you.
A horde of locusts will come and infest your brand new Z.
The "gentiles" will come and take away your first born male child.

                Joe -

AOL's browser is IE, with an AOL front end.

                  Hi Rob,
I do like having the 'year' icons. I use them to filter for the years I'm most intrested in when I first log on. I then look at all the posts for what else is new and interesting. I'm enjoying the Tech Board more and more as I get use to using it. Thanks very much for your and others efforts.

I have to go 5 generations back, but if I do every single ancestor came from Holland. 100% Dutch.

Where in the Netherlands did they originate from? We are small in size but our economy is like the fifth in Europe and we are indeed proud of it (beside the tulips, windmills, cloaks and Delfs blue)!!!

                          Chuck,

I just tested both Firefox and IE for copy and paste. I could highlight the text that I wanted to copy with my mouse. Right click and select copy, or just press CTRL-c to copy in both IE and Firefox. Worked exactly the same in both browsers. Pasted into Word with a simple CTRL-v.

I don't have any special features installed in either browser to account for my being able to do it. Try again by highlighting what you would like to copy, then press CTRL-c to copy it. Now open another editor, Wordpad, or Word, or Notepad and press CTRL-v to paste the text or picture into that application.

I recommend that you make them a requirement. However, for the sake of space and simplicity, you might want to change the designations to C1, C2, C3, C4, etc.

Peter etal, the goal is to keep the threads/posts relative to the NCRS Judging classes; i.e. 53-5, 56-7, 58-60.... This will keep the pertinent postings that have potential for future inclusions in the JM's by their respective Judging classes. Hope this helps explain the reasoning behind the Thread icons. Fair enough Gary, sounds logical. But then carry this through to the 3 model years of stand-alone classes; 1965, '66 and '67 (the "chosen" years ).
