Re: John W. - What are the stars for?
Heading at the top of the column indicates "Rating"...i.e. how valuable this thread was to readers.
You can "vote" for the usefulness or interest level of any thread you want, and the forum software computes an average of all those voting. For example, if only one person thinks the thread is really great and votes "five stars", then the thread's "rating" is five stars. If another person thinks the same thread is stupid, and votes "one star", the average rating would be "three stars", etc.
It's a device that could save us wasting a lot of time reading uninteresting threads, er...I mean if there were any...but virtually no one avails themselves this opportunity or expends the effort to rate our peers' threads. I tried it for awhile, but it wasn't catching on, and I quit doing it...easier just to scan the first few sentences to see the direction of a thread.

Mike,
Not to take John's job -- trust me I couldn't do it.
When you read the posts in the thread -- there is a tool bar that is right above the first post. One of the options is "rate this thread." Click on that radio button and you get the choice of one through five stars. I don't know how many folks have to rate the thread, or if others can up or downgrade the rating, but that is how one does it.Terry- Top
