      Re: Advertiser's Link Button

The conclusion after scanning the HTML dump is that very likely some form of ad/popup/spam protection software is filtering out the link since the directory "ads" is in the referred path. I've send Kevin the referred link so he can access the sponsor page directly and asked him to accept the blank spot in the bar for now...

        Kevin,

I just took a look at the screen shot you sent me. The one that I cropped and posted above and the Ad that is supposed to be in the upper right corner below the "Mailbox: No new messages." is missing also. I guess that really confirms what Rob suggested.

Can't say I like you circumventing our ads, but I would like to know what software you are using for ad blocking. Might be worth checking out.

          John,

I'm a little taken back by your last comment. I requested your help so that I would gain the ability to view the ads. Why would you accuse me of circumventing them on the forum for all to see! My computer skills are far behind any of your's Rob's or Gary's. I simply wanted to know why i wasn't able to see the improvements to tht TDB along with the rest of the membership. I suppose I should have keep my mouth shut.

          Very disappointed,

          Kevin

            Kevin,

Sorry about the tongue in cheek humor in my post. I was not really admonishing you, but did wonder what kind of ad blocking software was so thorough as to block these links as ads.

              John,

Perhaps my skin is a little thin! The whole thing is quite frustrating to me, as each time I try to fulfill your request I'm at the mercy of my sons to help show me how to reply. They insist that I'm a dinosaur, and perhaps they are right. Simply, I have not keep up with computers as all the rest of the public seems to have. Never mind about the link, I'll get along without it.

              Regards,

              Kevin

                Hi Kevin,
It's a sign from GOD, you are NOT to use any of the advertisers right now. You'll have a visit from an angel to let you know when it's O.K. to use them.
                Regards,
                Alan

PS: My 3 year old next door neighbor knows how to find a certain scene on her favorite movie...Monsters Inc., DVD. I don't!!!
I'm trying trying to buy my wife an I-POD Shuffle ... I asked 5 questions at the store and only understood 1 answer. I was too embarrassed to ask any more and just said thank you and left.
I said this a couple of days ago to you or someone else..."I'm way to old to be this dumb".

                    Follow-Up: Advertiser's Link Button

Kevin and I worked through this issue a little bit and it turned out to be an old and defunct version of Norton Internet Security. Removing it solved the problem.
