    Downloading Pictures or files

    To Whomever Can Help Me
I like to download the pictures and information from the website pertaining to my era Corvette. Sometimes this works OK sometimes not. I'm running Windows XP. When I download a HTM or a MHTML it seems to be just a shortcut to the website and after a while I can no longer access it. I'd like to be able to just download the picture or the text and save it to my harddrive. I could be wrong but it seems to me that my trouble started with the new web site format. Do I need a third party program for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Terry,

how are you attempting to "download" the picture?

are you using the RIGHT BUTTON on your mouse, and then clicking SAVE PICTURE AS? you should be given options to save the picture, as for instance a JPEG.

      Terry,

Rick is right. You should be able to right click on a picture and save it to your machine. When you right click on it a menu should appear beside your mouse cursor. From that menu you should select "Save Image As". You should then select where on your hard drive you wish to save the image.

Saving a message is similar. You should select what you want to copy to your machine by clicking your left mouse button and dragging it over the text and pictures that you wish to save. It will turn colors behind the text as you drag. Select all of the message that you want. When it is all highlighted press the CTRL key and then while still holding the CTRL key press the c key. This is normally written as CRTL-c. Next open your favorite word processor; Word, or Wordperfect or even Wordpad. Open a new document. Next press CTRL-v to paste the text into your document.

There is the message ready for you to save or add more information to. When you are satisfied with it save it to your hard drive where you can find it. Give it a name that will identify it for later retreival. I like to save one file for one subject, then open that file and add to it as new messages seem to add information to the subject. You can build yourself quite a little library if you will do this.

If for some reason the image doen't copy with the message you may have to copy it seperatly. If it is just a link to a photo hosted on some other server you may have to double click on it which will open it in a new window. Now select it and CTRL-c it to copy it. Then go back to your document and paste it.

Hope this helps. Think I will add this to the FAQ.
