I have just been contacted by a chapter in the NE that says I claim a membership in the Adirondack NCRS chapter, and am not such. That is absolutely correct.
I have checked my profile and the person who called this out is also correct.
I have been a member of the Southwest, Bonneville, Oklahoma and New Mexico chapters at one time or another. I currently am NOT a chapter member anywhere. I also HAVE NEVER PREPARED A PROFILE ALLEGING A MEMBERSHIP IN THE ADIRONDACK CHAPTER.
It thus appears to me that WHATEVER measures you have in place to control profiles is NOT WORKING. I did not delete the listing due to a fear that doing so would be counter-productive to your establishing who did make this entry.
Find he/she John and then delete my so-called membership.

Yes I contacted you. I am the Chapter Chairman. Chapters are required to verify their memberships to National. This is when I discovered you had listed your affiliation with our Chapter.

The question I asked was simple.

Do you want to be a member? If so I will provide you with information to join.

If not send me an e-mail back and I will remove the affiliation, which I can do in the database.

Let me know.

I believe that John and a couple other administrators of the site are gone this week. You may have to wait, or may do better by sending him an e-mail.

I have had this problem also. It shows that I am a member of the Ontario Chapter and I am not. I have talked with John about this and he has tried to correct the problem but it doesnt look like it stuck. You may have to contact your Chapter Chairman to make sure you are listed as part of your chapter, it will then show up in your profile. I still cant get the Ontario chapter removed from my profile

I have had this problem also. It shows that I am a member of the Ontario Chapter and I am not. John W. has told me the Chapter member who has authorization to update the data base can remove the affiliation. I have not removed Loren's because of his post. I have removed others and it seems to work. Did you try to have the Ontario Chapter remove your name?

Chapters have been told they must verify membership once a year by National.

Hi John,

No I have not asked the Ontario Chapter to remove it. Last time I talked with John W. it was my understanding that he was able to delete the Ontatio Chapter from my profile however I would have to contact the Lake Erie Chapter chairman to add the LEC to my profile. It is possible that since my help desk ticket, back on the 13th of this month, the situation has changed. It very well may require me contacting the Ontario chapter instead of John W.

As stated, I have not deleted the reference for fear that I would do something to hinder John's efforts to find out "from whence it came".
Having now heard from John of the Adirondack Chapter that HE CAN CHANGE MY PROFILE, I become somewhat alarmed.
I have encountered numerous systems that require 3 passwords plus a recital of the club poem - you'd think that they were ****s protecting the Enigma machine - to now hear that someone else can change my profile, it occurs to me that in this date and time, perhaps I should delete my profile and my access (Momentary pause while the applause builds.), but instead will allow John to have a shot.

All,

Indeed both the admins (myself and John) and the chapter membership administrators can flag NCRS members to be chapter members. This will then occure in your profile.

Also initialy during your account initiation you have been asked to fill in the chapters you have joined. This is also stored in the tables of our membership database.

Keep in mind only the people with specific responsibilities (in this case the chapter membership admins) can change information in the database via a secured access. In this case they also only can change info on their own chapter. What is the problem???

Thanks for explaining this to Loren.

I am just trying to clean-up my chapter roster as the membership administrator. I have found 10 people which claim an affiliation with our chapter and have asked them if this is an error or they really wanted to be a member.

It is pretty clear Loren has no desire to be an Adirondack Chapter member, so right after I post this I will remove him from my Chapter roster.

Remove the blinders, Rob. My question is "How did it get there?" Mr.
McGettrick seems to share the same question. Is there some Adirondack chapter member either just before or after our names and someone just posted it to the wrong file?

Loren, someone accidentially put you in as a member. I do not believe that the system we use has the ability to track who made the entry. Each chapter, with the exception of Wisconsin, has a designated member to enter chapter data. Apparently one of them made the mistake.

It is not a big deal, just a small error made by a human.
