What is the reason to make a "friend" besides competing with Paris Hilton or Britney Spears for the most number of "friends" on the web? What am I missing?

Terry, everyone wants to know what you had for lunch today. Seriously, little value in this...- Top

Re: Should we all be "Friends"
This "friend" business reminds me of the numerous Facebook requests to "like" someone or something. I am OK, and so are you -- remember that? I don't need a cadre of friends to feel good about myself, and none of you should either. We are all members of the same organization. That is good enough for me.
I really don't want to go beyond: "Won't you be my neighbor?"Terry- Top

Wasn't there a vote on this new "facebook" thing? How did that turn out?- Top

Re: Should we all be "Friends"
Can I be your friend too, Terry?
Seriously, I signed up for Facebook 2-3 months ago to keep up with:
1. Family. Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Brothers, Sisters, etc., etc.
2. Friends. Old friends from high school, college, and other earlier years.
3. Friends. NCRS, NCCC, and other auto related activities.
4. Neighbors. From my old neighborhoods and my new neighborhood.
I'm not competing with anyone.
And, I'll confess that neither Britney Spears nor Paris Hilton are my "up close and personal" buds on Facebook, but maybe I'll check into it.
