I was doing a search and ran across some old post, then I noticed that the poster was banned? is this for life?, or just for a short time.

Re: banned?
Lyndon,
This question comes up from time to time on other discussion boards as well and each case is based on the individual contributing factors. The term 'banned' is part of the TDB status but may well be better described as suspended. There are different periods of suspensions leading to permanent loss of TDB access. Sometimes the member is miffed enough at a short term suspension that they never come back so each case is different as to when and if the member will reappear on any discussion board. This may sound vague but each discussion board operates under the guidelines of the host whether it is an individual or a group. Regards,

Re: banned?
Lyndon,
"Banned" for most means that the member doesn't have a valid email address and emails sent to them by other members, etc. have bounced and the member has not responded to John's inquiries for a good email address.

Re: banned?
Expired members also get the banned status. Like explained before it is a VBulletin status we use to exclude expired members or suspended members from the board. This not necessarily means they are in some sort of bad standing...Rob.

Re: banned?
Surely (..and don't call me Shirley) in the wealth of the English language there is a term less onerous than "banned", for entirely technical reasons.- Top

Re: banned?
Is it possible to ban a member that totally misrepresents parts he sells fellow members, and then refuses to communicate with the person that has purchased the part or parts to negoiate an equitable resolution. This member had no problem using this site to communicate with me until payment was recieved. This person possibly has a history of misrepresentation of the parts he sells to fellow members and I would like very much to worn my fellow members. Without naming him at this time ,he deals in C-1 horns. Beware.

Re: banned?
No offense intended but this is a "technical" discussion board. When trying to convey technical information that is supposed to be helpful, it is necessary to be clear in what is said. Otherwise resolution of the problem gets worse, not better. I can understand criticism of poor language but not of correct langage.

Re: banned?
I was "banned" a couple of years ago when I let my subscription expire. I took that rather personally and was offended. Perhaps "subscription expired" would be a better choice of words and easily implemented. I did rejoin the Board but I sure did consider that decision carefully after the insult.
Having said that, I just renewed for 2012. I enjoy the Board despite my non-NCRS car. A lot of technical competence here. And generally nice people unlike some other Fora.
