    Cannot Find Old Thread

I have been searching high and low for a thread I started several years ago. It was asking for help to I.D. the T-10 transmission in my 1963 Coupe. The transmission has some unusual numbers on it and an "AA" tag. Joe Lucia was kind enough to reply and explained that it was an over the counter replacement from around 1966 I believe. No matter how many different ways I have tried to search I just cannot locate this thread. Due to the length of time I am sure it should be in the Archives.

Anybody got any suggestions? Did any old threads get "Lost" in the changeover?

    Norm,

No old posts were lost during the March 2008 conversion or since then. Before March 2008 all the old posts are in the Archives. Using "Advanced Search" function in the archives you have 7 posts. "Advanced Search" shows 80 some odd posts in the Technical Forum. You can also find your threads in a forum by clicking on "View Your Posts" or "View Your Threads".

Rob and John did a conversion using email addresses to match alias with real user names that are currently used. If there was an email address that couldn't be matched, then it would be listed as "Guest" and not in your name.

      Re: Cannot Find Old Thread

Hi Gary, thanks for the reply. It's too bad that I had the thread I am looking for printed out but it was mistakenly tossed out in a clean up so that is why I am trying to find it again.

When I search my I.D. using "Advanced Search" I get about the same results as you did however, there are no posts showing from August 2003 to August 2007. I know I am not as prolific as some on this forum but I just can't see how I might have gone for four years without any posts at all. Am I doing something incorrectly or is there any other way I should be searching?

        Norm,

If your email address in March 2008 was different address from Aug 2003 to Aug 2007 email address then the threads/posts couldn't be assigned to your current User Name. This about all the info we can provide.

          Re: Cannot Find Old Thread

OK thanks Gary. My email address did not change during that time period so I don't know what happened. I think I will just post the question again on the Technical Discussion Board. That's probably the easiest way to resolve it.

Norm. definitely something wrong with the search, i typed in T-10 transmission 63, the #1 result was your request for help finding the old post, #2 was about extra chrome on a 63, #3 was about bell housings, #4 64 ko's on a 65, #5 about an engine stumble, i would think a properly operating system would take us to the most relevant postings first, or maybe in the entire history of the forum there has never been a question about transmissions, if you figure it out, please let me know.

              Re: Cannot Find Old Thread

I did a search of all POSTS, Search Terms T-10 AND Transmission. I chose Posts by User "Joe Lucia (12484)" Next I chose all posts Older that 1 year. The results were 895 posts. They did span right through the years 2011 - 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003 and every year to August 1998. If you review each and every one of those thirty five pages of posts you will find the one you are looking for. You can skip pages looking for posts in the right time frame if you know about when to look for.

There are no periods of posts missing. Hidden in the thousands of posts maybe but they are there for anyone with some perseverance.

                Re: Cannot Find Old Thread

                Guys,

If you're not incorporating Boolean search operators; e.g. "", and, etc. that is in the FAQ about how to perform a search written by Rich M., y'al are whizing into the wind.

Experiment with the Boolean search operators and you'll find results as John points out.

It's all in how you word a search and finding the search operators that work.
