    Recovering auto-saved post drafts

I was replying to a thread and tried to post but was informed that I couldn't post because I wasn't logged on. When I tried to log on, I never was directed back to the forum. I was thanked for logging on but I only got a blank page with the discussion board address. While I was composing my post, I did notice that the post was auto-saved numerous times. Is there a time limit on how long you have to compose a quick post? Can I recover my post?
    Thank you,
    Steve Blanchard (54804)

    Steve,

Yes, you must be logged in to post a reply or initiate a thread.

Sorry you had a problem. If you logged on through the TDB URL www.forums.ncrs.org/ you are sent directly to the forum.

Users not logged in or guests are not able to reply nor do they get presented a text box/pane to type in. So I don't understand how you could type a reply without being logged on.

Did you use the "back space arrow"? What browser and version are you using?

Auto-save "Restore" is available when you go back to the same thread/post you typed the text in. IIRC the Auto-save text is only available to be Restored until you type into another thread or post.

      Re: Recovering auto-saved post drafts

      Gary,
Thank you for your reply. I was logged on (initially). By the time I had perfected my post, I had been kicked off and got an error message about not being able to post without being logged on. I'm not really sure what went wrong, whether it was my browser or the site. I have not had any difficulty with posts until this incident. I'm using Chrome, and it has been fairly consistent. I didn't have any difficulty initiating this thread. I was wondering where I can go to recover or restore a post after I have watched the auto-save highlight come on in the lower right corner of the reply box.

"Auto-save "Restore" is available when you go back to the same thread/post you typed the text in. IIRC the Auto-save text is only available to be Restored until you type into another thread or post."

I'm not really clear on what you are suggesting here.

      Thanks,
      Steve

        Steve,

To use the "Restore" function you have to return to the where you were entering the text when the problem happened.

When you made the post in the Help Forum the previous text you entered and was "Auto-Saved" was over written with the Help Forum text.
