ok I give up - how do I search for "third arm"

ok I give up - how do I search for "third arm"? both third and arm are too short or simple, and even in quotes it won't work. i tried stars, etc.

those words are too common and can't be used since they return too many search results...

      Ian,

Recommend you read the FAQ on Search. Rich M. did a lot of test searches and his uses of wild cards, etc. are included.

Searching for something like "third arm" will take a lot of trial and error to refine the search criteria using Rich M.'s test results of the wild cards, etc.

Also consider that "Third Arm" may not have been used to describe a front suspension part.

no "third arm" is there. It's the part right under the front grill attaching to the tie rod ends (as I'm sure you know). I have seen it while searching on paint info etc, but can't search on it specifically I've read the search info and I haven't found any way to get third arm in a search. why are we limiting the search in this way? I'd assume you could modify the exclusion word list to remove "arm" and "third" from the list... I would just use google to search the site for it, but...

            Ian,

As previously questioned "is third arm a good search term".

Suggest you try searching on Pitman.

Did you read the FAQ's on Search yet? Searches are trial and error to narrow the results.

The search function is inherent to the TDB software and it's not something that can be modified.

Re: ok I give up - how do I search for "third arm"

Ok cool thanks! I didn't try that... I tried *third and *arm and arm* and third*. We are using vBulletin forums so per their site the admins should be able to modify these minimum terms and other settings to be more user friendly. But that might impact the bandwidth of the site. So...

                Ian,

The vBulletin search function was modified to include "boolean" search functionality. That's all we can and are going to do.

If you can write code and want to re-write the search functionality, contact John Waggoner and let him know. We're always open to volunteers.

Sadly, I'm not a coder, or I'd be happy to assist. I just work in the business on the technical end. If there's anything shy of coding you need help with, let me know.
