    '67 Horn Relay wiring question...

I have a new Lectric Limited complete engine bay wiring harness. Two questions....the wiring diagram in the '67 AIM calls for a 16 Ga. B/W color wire going to the relay. I always thought B/W is black with a white stripe, but I don't have that color among the wires to the relay. What is B/W?

Secondly, another one of the wires is about a 10 gauge (heavy) red, then a black rubber cylindrical fitting, then the wire changes to black. Is this cylinder a resistor, thermal fuse or what? Also what color is this wire, red or black? Thanks. Patrick

    Patrick -

The 16-ga. B/W (black, white tracer) wire is one of the sensing leads for the ammeter; it splices just before the horn relay screw connection and becomes a 20-ga. orange wire at the connection, which is a fusible link.

The 10-ga. red wire is the main power feed from the battery cable stud on the starter solenoid; the black cylindrical device is a molded splice - its fusible link (14-ga. brown) is at the starter end.

John, thanks for the info. What still mystifies me is although the AIM calls for a black wire with a white tracer (B/W), there is no such wire in this harness at the relay. I do know that the AIM has mistakes and that Lectric Limited guarantees their harness to be 100% correct. I still have their "test number" tag on the harness.

I will call them tomorrow to see what their scoop is. I'm sure they have a Tech Advisor for their products.

I called the Lectric Limited Tech Line and they fixed me right up. The tech that I talked to knew exactly what I was talking about. He even had a copy of the '67 AIM and Shop Manual and he identified all the wires and where they connected...excellent service I might say.
