Motor time for my 84 driver. After all these years, the valve cover and air cleaner paint are getting rough. I ordered the new paint for valve covers that is available from corvette Central. Cleaned up my valve covers and gave it a whirl. Not even close to the old color. Very silver compared to the original. My question: Could my old paint have darkened that much? and was the original color metallic (nickel, silver, stainless, aluminum} looking, or was it a goldish tannish color. I've never seen a new engine for one of these cars, but all I have seen were darker by far than this paint. Wow!! When I read this over I wouldn't understand the qiuestion either, but maybe someone has been down this road and knows what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance. Larry

The TBI and early L98 covers were in the silver family. Sometime around 1988, I think, the color became more bronze.
Your best bet is to have them powder coated, like original, as any fuel/solvent spillage will be a disaster with ordinary silver paint.
