    rear end pinion depth

    If one were to replace the pinion bearings, keeping the existing gearset in the existing carrier with the existing shim(s), shouldn't the pinion depth return to its original correct value? Thanks, -Karl

    Yes, it should, but it depends on the quality control of the replacement bearing.
