    STATIC COLLECTOR

I AM REPLACING THE FRONT BALL BEARINGS ON MY 1961 WITH ROLLER BEARINGS. I NOTICED IN A PARTS CATALOG STATIC COLLECTORS. I DID NOT HAVE THEM ON MY CAR WHEN I REMOVED THE FRONT HUBS. DID ALL 56-62'S HAVE THEM? THANKS AS ALWAYS, JOE

Yes they did. They were inside the grease cap, and the button touches the end of the spindle. Most reproductions sell you two that are identical--the originals were different. They were "wound" opposite, so that one was for right-hand and the other left-hand.

        Joe,
Don't worry about them though, the general consensus is that the did little if any good. They were used up until the 7o's I belive. but almost every single one was thrown away when the first bearing greasing took place.
