Re: KNOCKOFFS
The Factory Originals (man. by KH) on my 65 which I've owned since new are a charcoal color. I've seen originals from earlier years which were a lighter shade of charcoal tending toward grey. I think some of the very few 63's that existed were unpainted.- Top

Re: KNOCKOFFS( More )
Forgot to add that the fins were originally polished with no clearcoat that I know of. The paint may be available from the usual sources-Ecklers etc. but I haven't looked. Don't go overboard on restoing these wheels if you have originals because that will- IMO- destroy the value of the wheel. The best advice is to clean as gently as possible, conserve the finish as is, and "restore" seriously distressed areas.- Top

Re: KNOCKOFFS
The correct "Argent Grey" paint is available from L.I. Corvette Supply, and is sold on spray cans, as "Hubcap And Knockoff Wheel Paint 1965-67". This color is available from other vendors as well.
The fins and bead areas are unpainted. All bright areas are polished and clear anodized.

Re: KNOCKOFFS
Rick,
The originl color was called Dark Grey Metalic Low Gloss. It was a interior color from chev from 65 through 67. The dupont code was 9931V but I have not been able to find anyone that can mix this color anymore. Corvette Central has it in a spray can also but apparently these do not have as much metalic in them as the original did. They are limited because of the spray can. If you can find someone to mix this maybe you could pass it on to me.
Thanks
