    C1 rear spring installation

Restoring my 62's rear leaf springs. Does anyone remember the details of using a special designed tool to re-install them onto the frame? The article was to have been in an old issue of the restorer. Thank you in advance.

Joe Calcagno had an article in Restorer Spring '87.
I removed then replaced my '58s rear springs without needing any special tooling.

Ditto on my 62. No special tools needed. Regards, Dick

I just put the springs back on my 61 and had no problems, bolted them to the frame and then hooked up the shackles. The special tool you might be referring could be one of two:

#1 The tool used to attached the rebound strap rivets?
#2 The 2 tools used to attach the banding to the springs.

I jsut remembered, after repreading the Calcagno article, that I DID have to use a bottle jack to flatten (raise) the spring to attach the u-bolt nuts.
