    C2 (1966) Power Steering Pulley #3843500

The 66 AIM indicates that, at one time, a power steering pump pulley bearing #3843500 was optional to power steering pump pulley #3834720 on L79's. The optional pulley (i.e. #3843500) was removed from the AIM drawing [UPC N40/A6] on February 18, 1966.

I am familiar with the #720 pulley, as one is on my car, but I can find no information in my references on the #500 pulley.

Is anyone able to provide information on the physical details/dimensions of the #500 pulley? I'm trying to get to the bottom of a belt/pulley alignment issue on 1966 L79's.

    Thank you very much.

    Henry-----

Although pulley #3843500 is shown in the AIM as the optional pulley (by "optional" this refers to the fact that the 3843500 pulley can be used on the assembly line in place of the 3834720), I don't think that this part was ever actually used in PRODUCTION. Also, it was NEVER available in SERVICE.

It could be that production of this part was cancelled after it found its way into the AIM (the compilation and preparation of the initial AIM is done well before actual PRODUCTION begins). Then, the cancellation of the part "caught up" with a revision to the AIM and it was deleted.
