The paper cone on my 1966 coupe dash speaker is gone! I want to replace the speaker with an upgraded part. With the side pipes hooked up to my non original, well worked, 427 I don't hear the radio that much anyway. I looked at the ones offered in Ecklers and was wondering if anyone has a recommendation as to a replacement.

I have the Custom Autosound dual 4" speaker unit (from Ecklers) and it's better than the original (especially since it offers stereo capability), but it still 'rattles' at higher volume levels (quite possibly a function of the metal grille assembly as much as the speaker itself). I have purchased one of Ecklers Kenwood 'upgraded' dual speaker units but have yet to install it.

You can have the original 10 ohm speaker reconed for about $25. I've done it several times and they work great.Comment
