C1 repop rear x-member / spring mounts

Hello all: I just got a repro rear cross member for a '61 and the spring mount eye brackets look to be about 1.75" wide, while the originals look to be about 2" wide. I don't recall the springs or shackles changing over the C1 years, but is it possible this weldment is for a different year? (or is it just an inaccurate reproduction?) any clues appreciated... -Karl

rear x-member / spring mounts

I replaced my 55 rear crossmember about 18 years ago to get rid of the welded-on trailer hitch. (hey, the car was family transportation for years). The replacement rails had a wider side plate on the eye, which also lowered the center of the eye, thus raising the rear of the car very slightly. I believe my replacent was a later year style, but was all that was available at the time.

Outside to outside of hanger bracket should be 2". I think it would be best to get a more accurate repro if yours is 1/4" shy. Regards,
