I have a question about the NCRS 1975-77 Corvette Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide (Second Edition). On page 52 and I quote "The aluminum wheels are polished and clear coated with rectangular black openings and black painted center section..." Is this incorrect or were '77 aluminum wheels painted black in the rectangular openings?

Re: C3 - Aluminum Wheels
Binnie - I once had a 77 with these wheels, and we bought it from the factory. The wheels were brushed versus polished, the 80-82 had the polish, I don't remember a clear coat like the later wheels either.- Top

Re: C3 - Aluminum Wheels
I ordered and still have a '77 with YJ8 aluminum wheels and took delivery in November 1976. For a time the wheels and optional mirrors were unavailable but I was able to obtain a set through parts and the wheels, lugs and caps were received a few weeks after delivery of the car. The wheels as delivered where brushed, not polished, and the rectangular openings were bare aluminum. The wheels had no clear coating. Same is true for my '78 B2Z.- Top
