63-64 Daytona Blue lacquer formula

Does anyone have a correct lacquer mix formula in PPG lacquer for Daytona Blue? I think the mix formulas these days are all offset codes (which as another message posted is too blue and too metallic). I am looking for a formula that was scanned from an original car and mixed from that. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. I have original paint chips from 63 and 64 showing the original code, but those are now replaced by the offset colour code and are not correct.

Yes, I've got it out in the shop from a PPG Prophet camera analysis made two years ago for a '64 repaint.

I had to throw away two gallons of DuPont Daytona blue lacquer mixed to their current "stock" formula. In my opinion, it is more blue and the metallic in it is much larger than the factory Daytona blue paint on my '63.

I'll hunt down the PPG lacquer formula over the next few weeks if you can wait that long. I believe I still have a paint sample shot from that batch too. Can you wait, or are you going to proceed with some other info? Please let me know before I waste several hours looking for this stuff for you.

As I once posted for the C1 Corvettes, when you get the right PAINT formula, make sure the painter uses the right metallic flake.Again you should hardly see the flake in your paint when done.

PPG Duracryl lacquer formula

I found the formula on an unopened quart that I bought for touch-up. No luck on finding the test sample panel that I shot, so I can't mail you a chunk of that for your inspection. You'll just have to buy a pint of this color and shoot your own test to see if you like it.

Tinting Guide: DDL18815 (This might be the local store code for this custom mix)

This color was matched in 1999 to a 1963 hardtop with factory Daytona blue paint that had been stored in a windowless garage since the late sixties.

Thanks Jerry! I've worked pretty closely with my paint guys in the past and they will have no problem mixing this for me. If you want a picture of the results forward an email that I can send a .jpg to and I will send one off when the painting is done.
