    Drive Shaft Question

Many years ago when I began my '63 conv. project I removed the drive shaft without marking its position relative to either the transmission or the differential. I know...shame, shame. I did not know if this was important. My questions are. 1) Is it a balanced item? 2) Is its position critical? 3) If necessary, how do I determine its position? and 4) Am I in deep-poop-trouble?

The car is a 340HP, T-10, (I don't think the diff is posi since it is not original. How can I tell?

Merry Christmas to all and many thanx for your help on this and previous questions. Great bunch of people.

    Re: Drive Shaft Question

Gary - the driveshaft is a balanced item, but the position is probably not critical. I would just install it, and if you sense any driveline vibrations, reeverse it 180 degrees and compare. Better yet, pull the driveshaft and have it balanced by a driveshaft shop, and they will check it for twisting and make sure it is straight and not bent.....as far as the posi, the best way to tell is rotate a wheel with the car jacked up, non posi the opposite wheel will rotate the other direction...Craig

Craig. Thanx for the response. I have a non-posi rear-end. I thought the reverse turn was the way to tell but was not sure. Happy Holidays.
