    Bellhousing L79 Motor C-3

I am getting conflicting opinions on whether or not the bellhousing on my 1968 327 with 350 HP (L79motor) with 4 speed manual transmission should be unpainted cast aluminum or painted Chevrolet orange to match the color of the engine.
What say you one and all?
    Thank you,

    Kurt-----

Usually, small block bellhousings were painted for a distance of about 1-3" back from the engine bellhousing flange. They were painted when the engine was painted and the painters avoided most of the bellhousing. The rear edge of the painting on the bellhousing was irregular.

Kurt I just looked at my 68 327/350 original owner convertible. It is up on the lift and I observed no paint on the bottom of the bell housing. On the sides looking up I could see no noticable paint on the passenger side. On the drivers side there is some paint above the clutch fork area, the paint is pretty light above this area. Looking from above, the over spray paint is pretty much across the top of the bell housing. Couldn't see all the way back to the joining of the transmission. The engine lift bracket has orange paint on it.
