on my 65 BB car is the caliper bracket plated or raw steel. If plated what plating and colour finish? This is on the front end .
TIA. This board is marvellous resource, even reading about other years the my car it gives one insite, and additional resorce options that you never knew existed. Thanks again,
Front caliper brackets were plated. For 65, it is widely believed that the original finish was clear (silvery)zinc or cadmium without the iridite or dichromate bright dip(goldish color). The GM part numbers were 3864115-left and 3864116-right. In 1968, the brackets were changed to GM #3928649-left and 3928650-right. The early and late brackets were functionally interchangeable and the later brackets continued to service all 65-82 Corvette applications until they were discontinued a few years ago. The later brackets were generally finished in zinc plate with a dichromate bright dip.
