    C-4 searching for a LT-5 ....Or a rebuildable ZR-1

I found a 91 ZR-1 less the motor and tranny Id need both anyone know of a LT-5 sitting around collecting dust that isn't priced out of this world??

What do you guys think the 91 body Blk on blk is worth ???
It has a clean title the reason it has no motor or trans the previous owner removed them so he could build it to 368 and keep for his other ZR-1.

I really would like to find a ZR-1 that needs to be fixed that has repairable body damage..
Maybe a low mile example that was wrecked with all its parts there...
Anyone here now where there may be a ZR-1 that is rebuildable??
or a spare lt5 with tranny that someone is in need of selling soon??
If I can work this deal out I would like to
I know I have seen the LT-5s sell anywhere from 5k-13k so it can get pretty ridiculous and BTW a 405HP motor wouldn't be a bad thing!!

    thanks
    Johnny

I don't recommend obtaining a "rebuildable" type LT5 engine. You may well find in the course of the rebuild that you need parts which are either unobtainable or incredibly expensive. Most major parts for LT5 engines have been out of production for about 7 years now. The GMSPO inventory of these is dwindling and many parts have already been discontinued.

Im looking for a rebuildable ZR-1 Or anyone with leads on LT-5s....
Not that Im worried about a rebuild on the engine if that happened you just have to up the ante to a 415!

With LT-5 water pumps going for $800 - $1,000, I can just imagine what the "real" internal parts are worth now that they're all gone

$800-$1000 for a water pump?? I hope you are joking!
where are you hearing this from ??

I just had to replace the water pump on my 1990 ZR-1 and it cost me $230 form the pump??????? If you know someone that is paying that much for them Im going to go out and buy a truck load of them.
Oh I also installed it myself that may be where your numbers differ from mine I do all my own work..

I own one of these beast right now!!! I have one!! I know what the story is on parts I know you cant get a set of blank camshafts for under 4K and they are disappearing, but I do know this the LT5 is one hell of a strong motor! of the ones I have seen torn down after many miles doesn't look like it was even run!

Im not worried about a rebuild if that day comes it comes but I want a pair of Zr-1s and I will have it.

Ive seen the crate motors go for alot less like 7-8K
They are smoking some crack if they think someone is going to pay that much..
well I take that back there are alot of people that probably can pay that much...
I on the other had I am looking for somewhere around 5-6k for a used one and around 8 for a crate 405 93-95 motor...with the crate motor being the #1 choice
But The wife told me I can buy anymore cars right now but what she doesn't know cant hurt her right??
                my search is still on!

                  Johnny,

You may want to keep an eye on our ZR-1 Forum. I usually try to post ZR-1 and LT5 engines that are currently up for sale on EBAY there.

A friend of mine bought 2 405's new in crates at Bill Heard Chev in LV in July for 5K each. He sold them in 2 days on the web for 7.5K each. I told him he was crazy.
