MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
I am replacing the front urethane bumper on my 73. I was going to use the new FLEX-GLASS bumper, but my body man talked me out of it, saying that it would create, rather than solve future problems.I agree with his reasoning in full.
But, now he has asked for the replacement urethane bumper prior to actually having the car, for painting. My concern is, if the bumper is painted prior to installation it will be stretched upon re-install and all the I money spent will have been for naught in a year or two,(from re-cracking).The current bumper is cracked down the dead center of the bumper.I am told this is the classic area these bumpers give way to. Should the bumper be painted prior to being fitted on the car or after? The car is super nice and I do not wish to have any short cuts taken. I am willing to pay for the right way---------I just don't know if it matters one way or the other.
